London is counting down to the New Year celebrations, To ensure that people from far and wide can get about without disruptions [sic], London Underground appeared to have virtually half of the Tube network closed yesterday for "essential planned engineering works". This is probably just as well. If I had known about it, I would not have got to see the rather special sunset over the Houses of Parliament.
