MONOPRINT: SKULL

SKULL MONOPRINT © GINGER NUT DESIGNS

A4 illustration of a Mexican skull using subtractive monoprinting method. A layer of blue caligo ink was applied to a small sheet of lino. After this a sheet of paper was placed on the ink and the skull image was hand-drawn onto the paper using a chinagraph pencil (this leaves a unique stencil on the lino/ plexiglass/ glass with which to print with) and printed using a roller (to ensure an even amount of pressure).

The process is quite messy, but fun. Each print you make will be unique, as the stencil degrades with each print. In addition to this, other factors such as pressure applied when printing, the amount of ink used, etc... will influence how your final print will turn out.
