Not to be confused with the town of Lydd, which is a few miles inland, Lydd-on-Sea is the last village on the west Kent coast before Dungeness. It is a small village and, as such, there is little to see or do, but does have a large shingle beach. There is also a lovely view of the coastline stretching all the way up to Folkestone and Dover.
After finally reaching the sea after my long hike, I was looking forward to jumping in (or at least get my feet wet), but was disappointed to see that the tide was out. I would have walked out to the water, but decided not to because it there appeared to be sinking mud as far as they eye could see.
